Bob Turner

At 75, Bob Turner’s journey with dementia began when a close friend, who was a medical professional, suggested to his wife that he might be showing signs of the condition. Although the family sought a diagnosis two years later, they struggled to accept the reality, even after it was confirmed.

Bob was a highly educated man, holding three degrees, and he spent his career teaching at the university level. A veteran and active community member, he was known for his dedication and intellect. As dementia progressed, Bob gradually lost the ability to recognize faces and names, even of close friends and family. He could no longer recall the universities where he had taught or the many achievements of his career. After a transient ischemic attack (TIA), his physical health remained stable, but his memory continued to decline, affecting both short-term and long-term recall. Eventually, Bob needed assistance with essential activities, including eating, bathing, and using the restroom.

Despite efforts to care for Bob at home—including adult day care programs and in-home caregivers—his family ultimately made the difficult decision to move him to Century Assisted Living, where he could receive the specialized care and support he needed.

Payment Plan: Bob’s care is financed through a combination of his retirement savings, military benefits, and a long-term care insurance policy. His family manages his finances to ensure he receives the comprehensive care and attention required for his needs, including a diabetes-friendly diet and personalized support in a secure, engaging environment.
